Photography deals exquisitely with appearances, but nothing is what it appears to be. ~Duane Michals

Here are the photos from Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I'll post today's up tomorrow because I'm tired and can't be bothered fiddling with them right now.

Thursday
A bit disappointing as I only got two pictures for the day, but never mind.

Dying Plant:
Dying Plant
For Christmas, one of the parents gave us a plant in a pot as a gift. Lovely idea; but alas none of us have a green thumb, it would appear! Plant is still alive, but somewhat droopy and losing a lot of its green. I stand by my claim that I did not touch the poor thing, not even once, for fear of this.

Thirsty?:
Thirsty Much?
Three of my water bottles at work. For some reason I felt it necessary to take all three on lunch, then decided to take a photograph of them because, really. Three water bottles for an hour?

Friday
Well, I fully expected Friday would be another "same old, same old" Friday for me, but that was not to be! Lauren at work invited me to her friend's art showing, so we raced to get out of work, ready and at the showing before it closed. Afterwards we hung out for a while waiting for her partner to come home. It was nice; we had a big talk and a lot of fun.

Wet Seat:
Wet Seat
It has rained so much lately that there were little baby puddles all over the seat at the bus stop!

Unknown Yellow Flower:
Unknown Yellow Flower
I see this flower every morning and I think to myself how beautiful it is. I don't know what it is, though, so if anyone does, feel free to spill the beans!

Connor:
Tuckered Out
Lauren's little boy! One of the children I refer to as "mine" or "my son"; isn't he gorgeous? This was at the end of a long day so you'll just have to forgive how tired he looks.

NomNomNom
Evil Kitty Will Eat You
Lauren's husband's kitten, Ebony. She's a cutey, when she's not trying to eat you. Sharp claws, sharp teeth, very sweet.

Saturday
Completely filled up with shopping; nothing too fancy, really. Grabbed a few things for work and a new chair (perhaps tomorrow's photos should include new chair, and reason for new chair, hrmmm) and such.

Lunch:
Lunch
Mmm. I love the Coffee Club's QLD Tropical open grill; ham, pineapple, cheese. What more could you ask for? Maybe the chicken and avacado that mum always gets. Also mmm.

Tropicana Orange & Mango
Tropicana Drink
Best. Drink. Ever. Try it; Coffee Club at the Bogandome.

Hungry Dragon:
Hungry Dragon
Hee. Tom ordered pasta and while he was eating it, I just thought it looked like the dragon on his shirt was hungry, so I snapped a shot that looks like he's getting it ready to feed the dragon.

Afternoon Tea:
Empty Plate
Had scones for afternoon tea; Tom ordered a coke, too. When the kid bought it out, he bought diet; Tom joked that the kid was trying to tell him he was fat... then the kid bought out diet coke again. Poor kid was flustered. Tom did, eventually, get his plain coke.

You don't take a photograph. You ask, quietly, to borrow it. ~Author Unknown

Once again, a double day post. I'm very tired lately and sometimes it's easier if I do a double update rather than one every day.

Lorikeet:
Lorikeet
On the walk to the bus stop today, I noticed three lorikeets in the neighbour's tree. Since I've always loved lorikeets (noisy though they are, they're beautiful), I snapped a shot of him. Unfortunately, I didn't have my 'better zoom' lense with me, and this is the best shot I could get.

Morning Dew
Morning Dew
I actually grabbed two "Morning Dew" shots, but this is the one I decided to use. The dew on the grass is so delicate, I just felt like capturing it.

Dirty Shoes
Dirty Shoes
Apparently what I'm really good at is getting grubby. This was taken before I even got on my first bus in the morning; look at all that dirt and muck all over my beautiful shoes! Also, I don't have one filthy sock; one is brown and the other is pink.

Rush Hour
Rush Hour At The Busway
Just before 6pm is a mad rush of busses at the busway; often busses will be lined up into the tunnel; and on some of the more popular busses there'll be a mass rush of people getting off to change.

Fairy Ring
Fairy Ring
On the way to the first bus stop this morning I noticed a whole bunch of mushrooms growing. They looked rather cool spread out in the grass, and then I saw this little half fairy ring.

Quiet Street
Lady Walking
It's so quiet in the mornings you could almost believe you're the only one around, but sometimes there'll be someone else up and about. This lady walked past me a little way, crossed the road and walked back again.

One Man's Trash
Treasure
I was thinking about Em's entry with the sepia tones from last night and I thought I might give it a go as well. I enjoy working with sepia/black & white images, but it's harder, sometimes, than simple colour. On the other hand, things that aren't very interesting in colour are sometimes lent an 'edge' when they're in sepia or black & white tones. This is the rubbish bin that sits beside the bus stop; it's usually empty - people seem to be more interested in throwing their rubbish behind the bus shelter (or, in my case, taking it home with them and then throwing it away - why do I do that?).

Cornerstone
Cornerstone
To be honest, I'm not sure why I thought it would be a neat idea to take a picture of the corner of pavement and grass beside the bus stop, but I did it anyway. I almost missed my bus getting this picture, actually!

You don't take a photograph, you make it. ~Ansel Adams

By the time I remembered that I hadn't posted yesterday's photos, it was too late and I couldn't be bothered, so they're here in tonight's, instead. The first three are from yesterday, the other two are today's. I wanted to get a particular people picture today but my bus came too soon. I'm thinking the people ones are going to be a bit of a problem in general; I look a bit creepy taking photographs of random people! Also I can't see myself approaching someone and saying "oh hi, can I take your photo?"

Back, Fiend!:
Argh! Get that camera away! Back, fiend!
This is my little brother, shielding himself and hiding from the camera. I cornered him at the window and kept snapping random unflattering shots like this until he agreed to let me take one of his face. My older brother looks pretty much like this too, but older, now.

Baby River:
Baby River
Since the Logan river flooded (approximately equal to the '96 floods, apparently), I thought I would commemorate this with this teensy tiny baby river in our backyard. It was just kind of cute, really.

Lonely Rooftop:
Lonely Rooftop
Just before I took this photo, these two birds were sitting on the roof right beside each other, and from our vantage point in the kitchen, it looked like the boy had his arm around the girl. It was adorable, but when I opened the door to get the photo (stupid security screens on the window), one flew away.

Busway Sign:
Busway Sign
There are lots of these signs around the Busway; probably because they're the official busway signs. I kind of like them, though, so that's okay.

Unknown Hedge:
Unknown Hedge
Yet another unknown piece of foliage from around the place! I like taking greenery shots, even when they tend to blend together a bit. Anyway, this is part of a hedge that is just behind the bus stop close to work.

I like the word "indolence." It makes my laziness seem classy. ~Bern Williams

Not only did I sleep 'til rather late; but I achieved absolutely nothing today, except to take these photographs.

Bimbo:
Kimba The Bimbo
I have been meaning for some time to take a photo of mum's dog, Kimba. She's a cattle cross; and the stereotypical blonde - beautiful but stupid. :D

Christmas Is Past:
Christmas Is Past
I thought since I haven't really left my bedroom, it was only fitting that my plant of the day be the little fibre optic Christmas tree that I have yet to pack away.

Lazy Day:
Lazy Day
These are the things I have occupied myself with, today. Sudoku, Star Trek, Pillore, a good book and my bed.

Project 365 - Day 1, that is technically Day 4

After so long neglected, I have decided that this blogspot is perfect in my attempts at attacking Project365; something I discovered through the aid of my dear friend. Her P365 blog is here. Definitely give it a look.

Anyway, since I only discovered P365 last night, I decided I'd make up for the first few days by taking a few extra shots today. From now onwards, however, I'm hoping to grab three shots a day: 1 plant, 1 person, 1 whatever.

Morning Rain:
Morning Rain
Looking in the direction the busses run at Garden City while waiting for my bus this morning.

An unknown plant:
Unknown Plant
Beside the bus waiting area, hidden behind the glass walls and actually inside the car park (but not so far as to miss the rain on a day like today) live a selection of these beautiful green plants.

Another unknown plant:
Unknown Plant
Downstairs, waiting for the bus to go home, this plant caught my eye in the rain. Alas, it was coming into night and the lighting was poor, and nor could I get particularly close due to the glass dividers.

Incoming:
Incoming Bus
I love the way it looks at night when the busses come roaring through one at a time like this. There's something lonely about it, but oh so beautiful at the same time. I wish I had a steady hand, though!

That Bully!
That bully!
The man that hit me as I got onto the bus today. Sure, he turned out to be my mother's friend, but that's no excuse. :P Not a great photo as I took it from half way up the bus at 6pm, but still.

Now That's What I Call Deadly Mail!
Deadly Mail
When it rains, the ants come swarming, in this case all over our letterbox. After fending off the hordes when she gathered the mail, Mum decided enough was enough. The rest; as indeed, are the ants; is history.

There are four basic food groups: milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, and chocolate truffles. ~Author Unknown

Oops. Guess what? I'm not dead!

Well, you may not have noticed (especially if you've been peeking in my windows), but Easter is over for another year. Stores all over Australia are selling off the chocolates and stocking their shelves with Mother's Day trinkets.

Which brings me to the purpose of this post. Almost everybody knows of my love for Christmas, and most people are also aware that it extends, in howsoever small a way, to other holiday periods. I love these occasions for the feelings they bring up; but I must admit - there's another part that loves when they're over. I know you're asking which part so let me tell you now - the part that loves to get a good bargain at the shops.

Picture. It's 11am on Easter Monday. I'm off work but I've been awake since half past 8 in order to get to the shops as soon as early as I can (bearing in mind that getting to the shops entails dragging poor Inky out of bed and having him drive me down to the big shopping centre near my mother). Together, Mum and I have hit several shops - KMart, Coles and several smaller stores. I've got bags of stuff already and there's a dozen more shops to visit.

Picture. It's Monday evening and I'm placing my finds all over the bed. If I don't find somewhere better to keep all this chocolate, and of course the soft and fluffies, we'll be sleeping on the floor tonight. Or perhaps just me.

Picture. It's Wednesday night, and I just "took a peek" around my local store before heading home. Just in case. I'm another $100 poorer. But I have yet more chocolate, and that makes it okay.

Lyrics for Lyssi

I wrote this a while ago, never posted it here. It still has no title, really, but working title for now is Lyssi.

Three weeks of joy and all that is left
Nothing of you, nothing to touch
Just a moment, a memory forever etched
And a single broken heart

An echo remains, a door to the past
Photographs and fading flowers
Shattered reminders that love couldn't last
When hearts went seperate ways

Oh, Star Trek got famous peddling alternate realities
And reach though I might it seems they held the only key
Yesterday I fell back into me

I only ever break my heart running to the you that could have been
I just want to hold you in the world that should have been
But yesterday I fell back into me

Nine months difference, I'm still the same
Without you my life's so empty
I miss your spark, I miss your flame
Missing what I never knew

So many questions, I wish you could say
If you could only tell me
Would you look like me, who would you be today
And would your Daddy still be here?

Oh, Star Trek got famous peddling alternate realities
And reach though I might it seems they held the only key
Yesterday I fell back into me

I only ever break my heart running to the you that could have been
I just want to hold you in the world that should have been
But yesterday I fell back into me

What did I do
To lose you
What did I do

Oh, Star Trek got famous peddling alternate realities
And reach though I might it seems they held the only key
Yesterday I fell back into me

I only ever break my heart running to the you that could have been
I just want to hold you in the world that should have been
But yesterday I fell back into me

Three weeks of joy and all that is left
Nothing of you, nothing to touch
Just a moment, a memory forever etched
And a single broken heart

I miss you
